As part of the Melbourne Airport upgrades taking place, the Francis Briggs-Apac Drive Roundabout was found to be impeding driver’s sight with an existing mound in the center of the roundabout.
ElaeoCarpus were commissioned to enhance the landscape and the driving experience moving through this section of Melbourne Airport and further enhance the 'sense of place' at the airport grounds.
The landscaping process began with the design. The design utilised the Melbourne Airport identity partnered with continuous freeform garden beds expressing the flexibility air travel provides so many worldwide.
Colour was at the heart of the design process. The vegetation selected were both rich in texture with white scented flowers for a third of the year, contrasting with the rich colours of the Melbourne Airport emblem.
As well as a safety initiative, this feature on our road will enhance the driving experience provided to visitors of Melbourne Airport.
